Each year, with the help of community based donations of food, market gift certificates, and services, Hope 7 provides families through our food pantry with boxes filled with bread, produce, pies, rolls, a gift card for the turkey and perishables, and all the sides. For 2018, 137 families received Thanksgiving baskets for a special holiday meal to share with their families
Thank you so much to our major sponsors who made these baskets possible!
Wynantskill Hannaford, Freihofer's/Bimbo's Bakery, Mimsy & Curt Breneman, Cumberland Farms, and The McElligot Family.

Christmas Gift Adoption Program
A long standing tradition, Hope 7 works diligently to match families in need of holiday gift assistance with generous donors. Families who have indicated a need are given forms to fill out with information on the needs and wishes of the children, as well as preferences, such as favorite colors, characters, etc. Emphasis is placed first on warm winter clothing and bedding then on toys, games, etc. the children are longing for. It is strictly up to the sponsor to decide what is to be purchased. For 2018, 655 children were helped between adoptions and our Santa Shop.
We do all we can to make the process run smoothly in order to provide a positive, fun, and most importantly, rewarding experience for you as the sponsor and a stress free holiday season for families who don’t have any idea how they are going to make their children’s holidays special. We have sponsors who return year after year after having such positive experiences with us.
It's a rewarding experience to do alone or with a group. Get a group of family, friends, coworkers, or book club members together and have a great time shopping for gifts that will make their eyes light up on Christmas morning!
***There are many ways to help for both Thanksgiving and Christmas. Give us a call to find out how!***
When to sign up?
We start our process in October and ask that you make your commitment by mid November. This way there’s less pressure on you and if you plan to do Black Friday shopping, you'll have your family's wishlist and families are not left hanging into December worrying about if they've been sponsored.
Try Helping Our “Santa Shop”
In the weeks before Christmas, we open a free shop in the pantry to help families who either came in after all of our sponsors were matched or have encountered last minute change in circumstance such as layoffs or house fires and now find themselves in a bind for Christmas gifts for their children. We depend on donations of goods for kids of all ages, especially teenagers as they are often the last to be adopted, and have parents select a set number of items dependent on our supply. At this time we also accept donations of good, used holiday decorations and gift wrapping supplies for the shop.
In 2018, we distributed 60 new coats to children in need of warm winter gear. A BIG THANK YOU to Rensselaer County Executive & the annual golf tournament he sponsors and the St. Jude Knights of Colombus in Wynantskill for their donation of coats.
