Holiday Programs

Thanksgiving

Each Thanksgiving, thanks to the help from the community donations of food, market gift certificates and services, Hope 7 provides families through our food pantry with full Thanksgiving meals. Each box includes bread, produce, pies, rolls, a gift card for a turkey and perishables along with all the sides. In 2019, Hope 7 served 137 families with Thanksgiving baskets to share with their families.

This program would not be possible without our major sponsors! Thank you to Wynantskill Hannaford, Freihofer's/Bimbo's Bakery, Mimsy and CurtBreneman, Cumberland Farms and the McElligot Family.

Christmas Gift Adoption Program

A long standing tradition, Hope 7 works diligently to match families in need of holiday gift assistance with generous donors. Families who have indicated a need are given forms to fill out with information on the needs and wishes of the children, as well as preferences such as favorite colors, characters, etc. Emphasis is placed first on warm winter clothing and bedding, then toys, games and other leisure items the children are hoping for. It is strictly up to the sponsor to decide what is to be purchased. For 2019, 752 children were assisted through our adoption program and Santa Shop.

We do all we can to ensure a smooth, orderly process to provide a positive, fun and most importantly, rewarding experience for you as the sponsor and a stress free holiday season for families who are need of this assistance. We have sponsors who return to our program year after year after having a positive, fun experience with our program!

It's a rewarding experience to do alone or as a group. Get a group of family, friends, coworkers, club members or do it on your own to have a great time shopping for gifts that will make a child's eyes light up on Christmas morning!

When to sign up!

Hope 7 begins their process in October and asks that a commitment is made by early November. This way, there is less pressure on you as the sponsor and if you plan to do Black Friday shopping, you'll have your family's wish list. This also helps prevent families from being left hanging into December, worrying about whether or not they have been sponsored.

Can't adopt but want to help?

You can help provide gifts for our Santa Shop! Each year, we open a free shop in the pantry in the weeks prior to Christmas. This program helps families who either came in after all of our sponsors were matched or have encountered last minute changes in circumstances such as layoffs or house fires and now, cannot provide gifts for their children on Christmas day. We depend on donations of goods for all ages, especially teenagers as they are the last to be adopted, and have parents select a set number of items dependent on our supply.

There are many ways to help in each of our programs for the holidays! If you'd like more information in how, please call 518-272-8029!
